Small Business Veteran Award

The Shenandoah Valley Small Business Development Center is accepting nominations for its Small Business Veteran Award. This award recognizes a veteran who has made a significant contribution to the economy of the Shenandoah Valley and makes a difference in his/her community.
To be eligible, the veteran must own, or have owned, at least 51 percent of a small business based in the Shenandoah Valley for one year, and show innovative or successful efforts to promote small business development and economic growth. The nominee must have been honorably discharged from active duty or could still be active in Reserve or National Guard units.

If you were nominated but didn’t make it into the top 100 for 2011, remember there were many benefits just being involved. First of all, it was an honor to be nominated. Second, participation this year raises your visibility and builds a foundation for next year. You came to the attention of hundreds of thousands of visitors on the Small Business Influencer site. Quite a number of visitors have remarked that they became aware of intriguing nominees they didn’t know before, simply by viewing the nominations. National Association for Moms in Business Grant Competition

Business grant competition via crowdfunding to give mom entrepreneurs a better chance at launching a new or current business project. All participants win a half-page feature in Moms In Business Magazine, publicity on peerbackers.com and momsinbusinessgrant.com, and a $2,000 publicity toolkit from PRNewswire. When the crowdfunding competition ends, all grant applicants who raised 80 percent or more of their funding goal will become semi-finalists.
